신성리 본당은 1903년 최초로 설립되었으며 현재의 공소 건물은 1909년 신축된 본당과 함께 사제관으로 건립되었다. 1936년 본당이 정읍 시내로 이전하고 본당 건물은 철거되었으나 사제관은 보존되어 공소로 활용되었다.
